Sarah Bostock:
“I’m looking forward to re-reading The Fortunes of
Perkin Warbeck by Mary Shelley and reading through
some Alexandre Dumas. Lately, I’ve really been enjoying
the band, The Arcade Fire. I love the movie, Rose Red;
I watch it weekly!”
Toni Garcia:
“I’m currently reading Lamb: The Gospel According to
Biff; Christ’s Childhood Pal by Christopher Moore. I
plan on re-reading the Dark Tower series by
Stephen King after graduation and then reading The
Absolutely True Diary of a Part-Time Indian by
Sherman Alexie. I’ve been listening to She and Him and
also Jason Mraz. I just showed Across the Universe
to my 102 classes...I’m smitten! At the end of May, I’ll
be moving to Denver, Colorado.”
Cameron Horn:
“Once school’s over, I want to dig into Frankenstein
again and Cruddy by Lynda Barry. Right now, I’m
listening to Blind Melon and Tori Amos and attempting to
learn their songs on guitar. Recently, I watched The
Mist and loved it. I also can’t wait to see
Cloverfield.”
Janet Little:
“Right now, I'm reading World War Z. I also plan
to read Deliverance and Saints at the River
for my directed study this summer to finish up my
Appalachian Studies Certificate. This summer I plan to
be on many, many roller coasters and hopefully, head to
the beach. We're also planning a move, probably sometime
in July, depending on where, or if, I get a job. That's
about it for me.”
Terry Lovern:
“After I’m finished with school, I plan on finishing Mister B. Gone
by Clive Barker and picking up Flight by Sherman Alexie. And I need to finish
reading Supernatural: The Official Companion Season 1
so I can buy the next one. Currently, I’ve been
listening to The Faint and Muse. I just saw The Ruins
and loved it. I’m anxiously waiting to see Iron Man,
The Dark Knight, and Hellboy II...My poem, “Sunday
Morning” is being published in The Bluestone Review,
and I recently submitted one of the stories from my
thesis—“Vigil Strange”—to the upcoming anthology, Unspeakable Horror: From the Shadows of the Closet.
Keeping my fingers crossed!
Scott McReynolds:
“After the end of the spring semester, I will begin
reading the Dragonlance: The Lost Chronicles
trilogy. I have been looking at examples of antifeminist
rhetoric in The Romance of the Rose, Le Morte
D’Arthur, and Chaucer’s Dream Poetry. I would
recommend the CD by Sixx A.M. entitled The Heroin
Diaries that came out this past year. It highlights
through both music and narrative Nikki Sixx's (of the
band Motley Crue) experience with drug addiction. As far
as movies go, I will be going to watch the plethora of
superhero movies that are debuting this summer. I plan
to see Iron Man, Hulk 2, The Dark Knight, and of
course The Chronicles of Narnia: Prince Caspian. I
utilized the graphic novel and the movie V for
Vendetta in 102 this semester. For those who have
not seen the movie, I recommend it. It actually provides
a social commentary on the concept of corrupt
governments and terrorism. |
